# Katana Network Details

Katana Perps settles all transactions natively on the Katana blockchain. Katana is a DeFi-focused Ethereum Layer 2 built on Polygon CDK and connected to the AggLayer. It uses ETH as its native gas token and is designed to concentrate liquidity across a curated set of core DeFi applications.

Katana Perps operates a sandbox version of the exchange on the Katana Testnet for development and testing purposes. The sandbox is a full instance of the platform that enables developers to build and test API integrations without risking real funds.

## Collateral

Positions on Katana Perps are collateralized by USDC on the Katana blockchain. Users deposit USDC directly into the Katana Perps smart contract to begin trading. As a non-custodial exchange, Katana Perps does not take custody of funds before making them available to trade — funds are held by the smart contract, tracked on-chain, and settled transparently.
